the last sin
  pale ashen sky
a bleary eye
clouds of recurring screams...
i am a zoo
  an octopus leviathan
tentacles into an ocean
of unformed emotions...
syphilis and love
  syphilitic pall
stifles the clear blue
i contort...

shell and pearl
  amidst highs and lows
in life's ocean flows
a shell peony-mouthed...

i am an unmarried mother

  fed on stings
of barbed milk morality
my child-plankton...

the lovers
  cell upon cell
bridge of their union
hung on the pillars...
rebirth
  ogre of age
and time cavil
at a warm picture...
the young today
  innocence thaws
at the altar
of ambition...

Nilgiris

majestic awe-inspiring powerful
words fall miserably short
speech slurs then becomes lyrical
repetitive bashful simple
imposing yet accessible
intimidating yet endearing
images of tea gardens
on sloped lands
dabs of impressionistic oil on paint
flora an embarrassment
of riches fauna prolific
prodigious free
a producer of misty verse

wonder why they
are called blue mountains
is it the splendour of teascapes
lush resplendent silver oaks
vibrant sprawl of gulmohars
a riot of flaming orange
abundant mauve of morning glory
fields of medicinal meditative
eucalyptus unbelievably long and thick
a blue haze coats
its terra firma in a mystical hue

home to friendly langurs
wild elephants with shiny white tusks
and myriad mysteries
seeping mountain streams
a tapestry that tantalises senses
green fields creeping
on rough hair-bend roads’
edges

Nilgiris
very unlike heady Himalayas
nothing like them on earth
heaven-kissing greatness
totally unexpected
