the last sin
  pale ashen sky
a bleary eye
clouds of recurring screams...
i am a zoo
  an octopus leviathan
tentacles into an ocean
of unformed emotions...
syphilis and love
  syphilitic pall
stifles the clear blue
i contort...
shell and pearl
  amidst highs and lows
in life's ocean flows
a shell peony-mouthed...
i am an unmarried mother
  fed on stings
of barbed milk morality
my child-plankton...
the lovers
  cell upon cell
bridge of their union
hung on the pillars...
  ogre of age
and time cavil
at a warm picture...
the young today
  innocence thaws
at the altar
of ambition...

dispatches from the war zone

one way to defeat mindghosts
is to learn to live with them
cohabit share a meal
have an occasional Scotch
watch reality shows with them
munching buttery popcorns
have a laugh it’s not that tough
you may not be able to banish
them from the thought kingdom
like impossible memories of past
or cold rusty springs
they keep coming back
so it may be worth a try
to neutralise their impact
by beginning to believe less
in their power to do
collateral damage
agnosticism has a role to play here
hang on to it
or on the other side of the edge
believe in the inexorable wheel
of karmic unfolding
but that needs years of conditioning
you decide
to coexist is partial victory
and slowly when the spectres
begin to lose their shine
make a valiant attempt
there’s no harm in hoping
to oust them in a surprise move
from their dark grubby grottos
i think it’s not a bad strategy
and time has come
to act upon it
